Summer Calling

For the first time in while, Hong Kong weather was stunning today. The sun was out, the sky was clear, and there was a soft cool breeze reminding me of east coast summer mornings. So, in the anticipation of the magnificent months-June, July and August- I decided to put together a little must-have collage of items for this coming season. I'm counting down the days...

I recently went onto the J.Crew website and was stunned by these georgous images from a shoot in Turks & Caicos. Visit the site (jcrew.com) to see the rest.

I hope the weather is treating you well!

Wigs wigs wigs!

There were so many shows from the fall/winter fashion week that I didn't get a chance to post about, and the Lanvin show was one I was particularly keen to write about.

Alber Albaz is a genius without question and the clothes in this collection were stunning as usual: refined, classically cut, with some really great ethnic details apparent in the closing looks and most of the jewelry. However, I honestly think it was the hair that made the show so spectacular. Generally, I don't like it when designers use wigs in their shows as opposed to the models' real hair- I love natural beauty, so I was extremely surprised to find that I LOVED the  short black, fringed wigs.

Some of my favorite pictures from the whole fall/winter season are the backstage pics from this show. The wigs were definitely key- they gave Albaz's collection a chic and sexy tone.

Valli Past, Valli Present

Excuse my absence. I have to say this month has been very busy, but my goal for April is to post at least once a week...we'll see where that goes. On a much more interesting note, Last week Leighton Meester wore a Giambattista Valli dress to the premiere of "Date Night", and it inspired me to take another look at the spring 2010 season on Style.com.

Remembering the blacks, whites and grays that hit the runway this season, it was very refreshing to look back at the colorful spring dresses Valli created for his spring collection.

I was slightly disappointed to see that there was little-to-no color in Valli's most recent collection in comparison to the spring collection. However, I do looove the black and white minidresses with feather-like embellishment he created for the fall 2010 collection. (And of course I couldn't forget the striped, sheer gown Karlie Kloss wore down the runway...)

I decided to conduct a Valli megasearch, and I've put together a few of my favorite "past" runway looks. I've realized that whether he does feathers, ruffles, or eccentric colors, he always makes it work in the most outstanding ways. Since looking back into the style.com Valli archive, my love for the brand has increased ten-fold. Every single look has an unpredictable twist, and they all look stunning. I can't wait to see what he does next...
