Sunshine to My Day

If you're having a bad day or you simply need a little cheering up, the DVF website is the place to go. Without a doubt it will brighten your mood. If you've never been on the website you're missing out! Diane must be thrilled with her web designers because the site is awesome. Along with net-a-porter.com  and jcrew.com, the DVF website is my favorite. Currently, the site is featuring Furstenberg's latest swimsuits and beachwear- just in time for summer.

All of the bathing suits are adorable, ranging from small bikinis to full pieces.

Karlie Kloss is featured in their spring 2010 add campaigns and I absolutely love the shots of her. The stylists are so creative, and although I do tend to wear black and grey most of the time, I love the color Diane von Furstenberg incorporates in her collections. Here are a few pictures from the catalog (which can be seen on the website):

I think the website is so creative and unique compared to other online shopping websites. Almost every page is collage-like and overflowing with bright colors and interesting shapes. Click here to visit the site. It will surely lighten up your day!

A Lively Cover

I just found out Gossip Girl's Blake Lively will be on the cover of the June issue of US Vogue. Blake has great style, and she seems very vogue to me! I think she definitely deserves another Vogue cover, and there aren't many people I'd say that about. She seems like a real woman to me- Hollywood has not gone to her head.

                   How gorgeous is this girl??

Everything seems to be very summery lately- the shoot takes place on a beach, and Lively is wet-suit and bikini-clad throughout the story. I can't wait to see what the rest of the shoot looks like. You can see all the pictures on Vogue.com however I'm a traditionalist- I like to have the actual magazine in front of me. You can also watch the cover shoot video on the Vogue website.

Do you think Blake deserves yet another Vogue cover? Do you love her as much as I do?

Ooh la la

Last Tuesday, Karl Lagerfeld's short movie was released just in time for the debut of his 2011 resort or "cruise" collection. However extracted from reality, the film is undoubtedly a glamourous, seductive and very Lagerfeld take on living the life in Saint-Tropez. Not only are the clothes gorgeous, but so are the cast members (which you would only expect- it's a Karl Lagerfeld film after all). The cast is made up of top models including Elisa Sednaoui, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Heidi Mount, Baptiste Giabiconi, Freja Beha, and Magdelena Frackowiak.

At the end of the film, Karl Lagerfeld himself arrives at the house surprised that all of the party guests (aka beautiful models) are strewn about the living room either sleeping or smoking. The whole theme and message of the film can be summarized in the very last line:
"Yes, but this is Saint-Tropez!"

What do you think of the film? Highly glamourous or out of touch?

You can watch the entire film on youtube, where the quality is really great! Click here to see part 1, and click here to see part 2.

P.S!! I have a new favorite website: chanel-news.com. There are tons of pictures from the Saint-Tropez events and  a lot of other Chanel news in general. Here's the link: http://www.chanel-news.com/en/

Enjoy!

Bound for the Beach...

The master of cool himself, Karl Lagerfeld has struck again. This past week he debuted his Chanel 2011 resort collection in Saint Tropez and the event was spectacular. Just looking through the pictures on style.com does not do this collection justice. Besides the clothes (which are georgous of course) it's really the atmosphere which makes the show so great. Click here to see a short video, and you'll understand what I'm talking about. The models arrived on yachts and casually walked down the "runway" (which was really just a road) barefooted, either holding their sandals or tossing their beachy-looking hair.
I love these short shorts and the jacket is adorable. The show was right next to the water, as you can see the yachts in the background.

These are my two favorite looks from the collection. I think I'm having a floppy beach hat moment- I love them!

I thought Diane Kruger was easily the best dressed viewer at this event; I love her sense of style in general, and I recently found out she doesn't have a stylist. She dresses herself and does her own hair and makeup. Impressive, right?

I absolutely love this picture of Diane, who is dressed wonderfully yet again. This picture was taken at a Chanel event in Saint-Tropez the same week. Notice the hat?  And how cute is the ribbon in her hair?

Karl Lagerfeld never lets his audience down. In fact for the finale of the show, models Georgina May jagger and Sébastien Jondeau cruised down the runway on a motorcycle. Definitely check out the video for the full effect!

The Last of The Gala

I promise this is the last post on the Met Gala. The problem is the more I look for pictures, the more new pictures I find! And who knew Karlie Kloss, one of my all time favorites, was at the Gala? I have to say I've visited over twenty websites and I only saw her picture twice! Well she looked stunning in a Donna Karen strapless purple gown. This jewel tone is great on her (yes! finally color) and her make-up was gorgeous- not too over the top. She looked very young and fresh, don't you think?

I also wanted to include Lily Donaldson, wearing a elegant Marc Jacobs number, and Natasha Poly who looked absolutely stunning in Michael Kors. I love love love her hair and make up. While I do love Donaldson's look, I think Natasha was the best dressed model along with Rocha and Kloss. She looks so spectacular.

I was watching a behind-the-scenes video on Vogue.com the other day and found out that tulips were the flowers of the event. This made me so happy because tulips are my absolute favorite flowers. They're so beautiful. I took this screen shot from the video:

They must have ordered hundreds!

Model Magic

How spectacular does Coco Rocha look in this Zac Posen number? The train completely resembles flowing water, and the colors are amazing! This dress reminds me of something van Noten would create- his fabrics are always beautifully dyed as well. I hadn't seen pictures of models at the Met Gala last night, so I thought I'd do an extra post....

I've changed my mind: Rocha had the best dress of the night, only because it's so much more unique than any of the others. You don't see this type of dress very often.

I also thought Hillary Rhoda looked great:

I know this post is supposed to be about models but I've realized that I don't love the other models' looks as much as the two above. I thought Jessica Stam looked okay, however I didn't like Chanel Iman's look at all. Where was Karlie and Jourdan and Natalia?? AND where were the Olsens? Last year they both looked unbelievable. I was hoping they would attend this year's Gala.

Besides the models, I just wanted to include these three looks which I didn't put in my last post (or I didn't include a photo):

Along with Coco Rocha, I thought these women had the most unique look: Sienna in Pucci, Kate in Valentino (I love the Old Hollywood look), and Margarita Missoni in Missoni. Each of them did something slightly different and creative.

[Don't be surprised if there's one more post on the Met Gala. There were so many great looks but lately I haven't had enough time to sift through all the photos]

MET COSTUME GALA 2010!

I feel like for the first time in a while, there were a lot of really well dressed celebrities on the red carpet. I found the awards season this past January and February quite disappointing, however the Met Gala red carpet was everything but disappointing! There were a couple horrifying looks (Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, etc) but I thought for the most part everyone looked spectacular.

1. Emma Watson in Burberry
Emma looked exceptional in this Burberry dress. Personally I think she always looks great- she's such a beautiful girl. The shape of this dress really flatters her, but I wish she had experimented a little more. It would have been great to see her in some color.

2. Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad
I was actually shocked to see Jennifer Lopez wear a dress like this. She looks so stunning! I assumed she would flaunt something short and sexy- a lot more cutting-edge than this Murad gown. I hate to admit it because I don't love Jennifer Lopez that much, but I think she was the best dressed by far.

3. Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein
Whenever I see pictures of Zoe she always looks like such a happy person. She's so radiant and classic in this Calvin Klein dress- the one-shoulder style really works on her.

4. Marion Cotillard in Dior Haute Couture
Out of everyone's look on the red carpet last night, Marion's was my second favorite. It isn't even the dress (yes the Dior looks amazing on her) but it's also just her. A dress never wears her- She's always glowing. Remember the mermaid-style Galliano dress?? She always pulls of the most magnificent looks, but she's never shadowed by them. Her looks are always exciting without being over-the-top.

5.  Stella, Kate, and Liv all in Stella McCartney
I love this group. End of story. They're always on the red carpet together and they always look great together. I love love love this picture, because they're all so stylish and they all look so confident which is very refreshing to see. However I thought their looks were slightly boring, just as Emma's was. Where's the color??? It's spring!

I was going to include Blake Lively, Kristen Bell, Margarita Missoni, and Anne Hathaway, because I loved their looks as well but this post was getting too long. I loved Margarita's look because she made it her own- she always does that, and I find it very inspiring. It never looks like some company just slapped a label on her. I think she always dresses herself and I like that. It's quite rare to see this when almost every celebrity/socialite has stylists these days. As for Blake Lively- I loved her Marchesa dress SO much but it was a hundred times too short! Usually in photographs you can't really tell how short a dress is, but she looked ridiculous! It was frustrating, because I wanted to like her look so badly. I like her, and I really like the dress but it just didn't work. Kristen Bell looked really pretty as well, but she didn't look as stunning as any of the women above. Anne Hathaway I had to at least mention because she looked lovely however I feel like I've seen that dress a million times before at other events.

If I have time later I'll make another post with more pictures, because there were a few people who I didn't mention but who also looked really great. To see all the pictures click here.

What did you think of the looks?! Who do you think was the best dressed?

In Anticipation...

Tomorrow night, arguably the largest fashion event of the year will take place: The 2010 Met Costume Institute Gala. It's always a night of high fashion and glamour, however I have a feeling this year will be different. While last year Marc Jacobs and Justin Timberlake were the hosts along with Anna Wintour (of course), this year Wintour will be joining forces Patrick Robinson of the Gap and Oprah Winfrey. Although I have nothing against Gap, I'm skeptical as to how Anna and Co. will keep the event classy and not...well...cheap.
Anyways I found a couple photos from past years- I'm really hoping this year will be just as good, if not better.

2008 and 2009 Met Gala

For the past two years I've thought Kate has been the best dressed by far, however I absolutely love Sasha's Giambattista Valli look shown below.

2009 Met Gala
The Model As Muse theme last year was pure brilliance- do you think this year's gala will turn out even better?
